Wood Sculptor Ray Jonas

Ray Jonas creates one-of-a-kind pieces from various hardwoods collected from around the world, including maple, rosewood, myrtle, walnut, padauk, flame box elder, and iron wood. The colors of wood range from black to fiery yellow and are complemented by stone inlays, as well as other materials like ebony.

Shifting his attention from his long-time work at a bronze foundry to creating rustic wood furniture, Ray now does most of his work by hand, translating Nature's humble materials into striking and unique artwork.

Focusing mostly on smaller, decorative pieces, Ray's graceful hearts and other shapes emphasize the beauty of the natural wood.

Ray attended the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles and later studied sculpture at Brigham Young University, where he discovered wood sculpture.

Ray Jonas is just one of over 100 local Northern Arizona artists here at the Sedona Artist Market.
