Miniature Masterpieces

April 23, 2018

Before moving to Sedona thirteen years ago, Chuck Hensley worked as a shop teacher in the Denver public schools.  He showed high school students how to weld and how to craft beautiful furniture and jewelry.  As a master welder, Hensley also worked with several construction companies that were rehabilitating downtown Denver.  One of his masterpieces was a steel flag that waved in the breeze.  Hensley also did commission work for high-end, private clients.

Currently he works almost exclusively in miniature, using sterling, stone and turquoise.  Hensley has always loved Native American art, and his admiration and skill are reflected in his 3"-high kachinas.  He's perhaps best known locally for his miniature hummingbird ("Mountain Dew"), which won Best in Show two years ago at the Camp Verde Days art show.  It's sterling, lapis and turquoise set on spiny oyster. He also won a 2nd place and an honorable mention for other miniature creations, such as tiny bugs made of turquoise and coral.

Several years ago, a customer commissioned Hensley's metal crosses embedded in Sedona red rocks.  And they've become best sellers.

You're welcome to view his masterpieces, as well as creations by 100 other northern Arizona artists, here at Sedona Artist Market.  We're open 10-5, 7 days a week.  And we look forward to seeing you!
