Luke Metz: Potter and Ceramicist

Luke Metz grew up in New York City, moving away after graduating college. He has lived many places in the U.S. and now calls Sedona home.

Upon retiring, Luke took up art on a full-time basis. He says that this dramatic change from a life directed by his left brain to one that focuses on the right brain has brought wonderful changes to his life. He loves creating with his hands, pushing boundaries, and exploring in general.

Luke creates both functional and decorative pieces. Functional ware is food safe, and it can be used in the microwave and washed in the dishwasher. Decorative ware is usually raku, saggar fired or pit-fired. These pieces are not for use with foods or liquids. All of his work is hand formed instead of slip cast.
