Many people who visit the Sedona Artist Market mistake larimar for turquoise due to its deep sky-blue color. But larimar is not local to the Southwest. It was actually discovered in the Dominican Republic...so far the only place it has been found.
Gary James has an amazing display of pieces with larimar set in sterling silver. Some are original pieces and some are repurposed from older Mexican or Native American pieces. Gary will often replace an old or broken stone with a piece of larimar.
This pendant features a truly gorgeous AAA++ larimar stone measuring 54mm x 35mm. It is wrapped with square sterling wire created by Navajo silversmith Sally Begay.
The total measurement is 92mm (3 5/8in) x 39mm (1 1/2in). The bail opening is 8mm x 14mm. This piece weighs 61.8 grams.
