The holiday season is here. Many people expect, presume, or at least hope it will be a time of togetherness, warmth, joy, and love. However, it's easy to lose sight of the spirit of the season when you're stuck in traffic while shopping for items you feel obligated to buy. Parties are fun, unless you're only attending because you feel you should. Rich, fattening f...

According to the National Day Calendar, National Absurdity Day is observed annually on November 20.

This day was created as a day to recall and note some of the entirely off the wall and ridiculous things in history, in our country, and in our lives. National Absurdity Day is also a day to have fun and do crazy, zany, and absurd things....

Once there was an elephant,

Who tried to use the telephant

-No! no! I mean an elephone

Who tried to use the telephone

-(Dear me! I am not certain quite

That even now I’ve got it right.)

Howe’er it was, he got his trunk

Entangled in the telephunk;

The more he tried to get it free,

The louder buzzed the telephee

-(I fear I’d better drop the song

Of elephop and telephong!)

The moon was round,

shining bright

as two javelinas

ran fast last night.

They were caught

in my headlights,

racing on the road

to get out of sight.

I'm glad they didn't

turn to fight,

their sprinting bodies

gave me a fright.

We went on our ways

into the night.

The javelinas and me

we'll both be all right.
